Hot Tubs Houston

March 23rd, 2009

Deciding to buy a hot tub is a great choice for any homeowner. A hot tub has many benefits including physical benefits as well as providing a great atmosphere for social gatherings. And, because a hot tub is heated, they can be used all year round. If you are considering adding a hot tub to your deck, backyard, or as an addition to your swimming pool, there are a few points to consider.

Because many hot tubs are above ground, homeowners can install hot tubs themselves. As it were, planning is involved for such aspects like location, support, and more. The first major aspect to consider before you decide on purchasing a hot tub is where your hot tub will be located. Because a hot tub is modular and many varieties are above ground, it can be located either outside on a patio or a deck, or inside in a sun room or conservatory. Wherever it is installed, it needs to have adequate structural support. When the hot tub is filled with water and in use, it will get very heavy and needs to have a strong base.

We recommend your hot tub be on a slab of concrete, on outdoor rated concrete decking material, or on concrete pavers. Also, if you choose to erect your hot tub in your home, adequate ventilation is required. If you are placing your hot tub on a lifted deck (as opposed to a flat concrete paver deck) make sure that the deck is properly supported to be able to handle the extra weight. Remember, the area will not only be holding the hot tub shell, but the water and any guests you have in and around the cheap hot tub as well.

example of hot tub from houston shopAnother important factor is considering access to gas lines, plumbing lines, and electrical lines. In order for your hot tub to function, it will either be powered by electricity alone or electricity and gas to heat up the hot tub. Some hot tubs use electric heating coils so there is no need for a gas line. Plumbing nearby is also a necessity. Your cheap hot tub will occasionally need to be drained for cleaning or be filled when water evaporates so it is convenient to have plumbing accessible. The most important factor of the three is your gas and electric lines as water can be ran to the hot tub with a hose if the water line is near the hot tub.

Another factor to consider is the traffic in and around the hot tub. When you own a hot tub, your popularity will skyrocket so you need to accommodate for the extra people and guests that will be visiting and frequenting your new hot tub. Consider purchasing or making extra seating, installing landscape lighting or spot lighting around the spa area, building changing areas for your guests, adding towel racks, adding more outdoor furniture, and adding other features to accommodate your extra guests. We recommend adequate outdoor lighting as the hot tub is apt to be used as much in the evening as in the day, if not more.

cheap hot tub in houstonA final consideration is sheltering your hot tub. If you want to be able to use your hot tub during precipitations such as rain or snow, it is helpful to build a structure over your hot tub. If your cheap hot tub is near your home, a great alternative to building an expensive roofed shelter is attaching an awning or canopy to your home. This way, you will be able to enjoy your hot tub all year round.

Condo Hot Tubs are Popular

March 19th, 2009

The popularity of condo hot tubs is very much on the rise. Many condos now offer a hot tub for everyone to use, or jacuzzi tubs or jet tubs in the individual condo units, or both. Hot pools are a great way for the neighbors to get to know each other. Neighbors are bound to run into one another when they are using the hot tub.

What better way to start up a conversation and get to know a little bit about one another than when you are sitting in the hot tub. Another great benefit to a condo hot tub is that you don’t have to worry about the maintenance; all you have to do is enjoy it.

cheap outdoor hot tubsIf you are not a very social person you will probably prefer to stick to the jet tubs that come in most condos. These tubs offer you the same relaxing feeling that a hot tub does. If you would prefer to relax in the comfort of you own home this is the way to go. You can come home and start the tub and climb in and relax. You can listen to your own music, or light a few candles and enjoy a glass of wine.

You used to only find condos that had a pool for its occupants to enjoy, but not anymore. As life gets more and more stressful and fast paced, the need for ways to relax becomes more and more important. With everyone being so busy with work and children and other activities it is easy to get stressed out. With so many pressures on us it is easy for us to forget to unwind at the end of the day. One way we can unwind and relax is to slip into the hot tub.

Hot tubs are becoming very popular due to their many benefits. In addition to relieving stress, and the pain or sore muscles, they can be used for a get together with friends. What a great way to spend time catching up with your friends. Having a relaxing evening with your friends may be just what you need.

Hot tubs and saunas have many things in common. Both can be very relaxing, and both can be helpful in relieving stress, and the pain of sore muscles. Some people prefer one over the other, depending on their individual likes and dislikes. If you do not enjoy sitting in the tub, or swimming you will probably not want to go out and purchase a hot tub, you may instead want to get a sauna. On the other hand if you do not like to sit in a small room you will probably not go out and purchase a sauna. Going to a spa to see which one you enjoy may make your decision of which to buy easier.

Finding the right hot tub or sauna for your home can be quite a challenge! Come visit us for loads of information to help you make an informed choice: http://www.greathottubsandsaunas.com/

Cheap Wooden Hot Tubs

March 18th, 2009

round wooden hot tubsWooden hot tubs were very popular back in the mid to late 1970’s. However, when the 80’s rolled around, they seemed to be very out dated. Most people want to go with more modern types of hot tubs. However, now with the different ways that we can treat wood, wooden hot tubs are coming back into style. Not only that, but discount wooden hot tubs are easy to find, because they are so much easier to make than other types of hot tubs. Today we are going to cover the different types of wooden hot tubs and what they are usually made out of.

First of all, you need to know that hot tubs are different than most spas. Whenever you hear people talking about spas, they are usually talking about a rectangular type of tub to sit in. They are a lot larger, and they are typically made out of acrylic. They also have things like jets and purification systems. Of course, when you get right down to it, all spas are hot tubs, but usually wooden hot tubs are not called spas. However, they can have all of the features as spas do, as you will find out later.

Most of the wooden hot tubs that you find are going to be made out of redwood or sometimes cedar. However, unlike hot tubs from long ago, these discount wooden hot tubs have treated wood to keep them from rotting away due to the water. Also, you should notice that most wooden hot tubs are round and have no edges on them at all. Old wooden hot tubs used to be very hard to get comfortable in, because they have no place to sit but on the floor. It was very much like sitting in a wooden barrel. However, the newer ones do have seats on the side of them. Now you not longer have to sit in the floor.

Last, but not least, these wooden hot tubs have jets in them as well. Of course, these jet systems can be found on the outside of the tub. The pipes are run along the side of it, then come through the wood in the area where you want a jet to be. Then a sealer is put around the spot where the jet comes through so that water will not leak out.

As you can clearly see, wooden hot tubs are just as good, if not better, than normal hot tubs. The reason why these hot tubs could be a bit better is because they cost less money. Not only that, but not a lot of people have wooden hot tubs, meaning that you could be the only person on your block that has one. A lot of people love them, because they add a little bit of a natural look to your back yard. A lot of people feel like these kinds of hot tubs look very nice on wooden decks. That is because it is almost like it is carrying out a theme of some kind.

How To Compare Spas
1. Material - Do you want wood or plastic? It’sa preference but remember that a lot more maintence will go into a wooden hot tub then a plastic one. Plastic ones are way more common but don’t have that real wood look.

Spa and Hot Tub News
The wooden hot tubs are by far the most popular variety of hot tubs. The hot tub is actually constructed like a large barrel. It has wooden staves and steel bands. Redwood, cedar and teak are commonly used to make the staves.

Wooden Cedar Hot Tub
This wonderful wooden hot tub was carefully made out of Western Red Cedar wood - beautiful clear grained wood for the ideal natural backyard soak. Coming from SeaOtter WoodWorks, it employs only natural materials.

Compare Hot Tubs Before You Buy
Whether you want wood or plastic it all depends on preference. Its important to know the difference; with wood tubs there is a lot more care that goes into maintaining that wood finish.

Ideas For Your Hot Tub

March 14th, 2009

So you’ve just purchased the cheap hot tub of your dreams that you know will be the envy of your friends. Have any ideas on how you will enclose it? There are many good reason why you should enclose your hot tub. Fortunately, there are also several ideas for enclosing your hot tub including fencing, wood roofs, gazebos and using screens.

The location of your hot tub, will help determine what type of enclosure to use. If its outdoors, you want to protect your investment from bugs and rain from entering and damaging your hot tub. Contamination is one of the most common reasons having to replace hot tubs.

outdoor hot tub gazeboDepending on your location and climate, you may find that it makes the most sense to completely enclose your outdoor sauna, with screens and a door to prevent any debris or insects from entering the hot tub whatsoever. There are many woodworking plans available that will enable a talented craftsman to build their own enclosure. This is cost effective yet it will require a commitment to finish the project. Whether you prefer to build your own enclosure or purchase one that simply requires assembly, you will find that enclosing your tub will have a direct effect on how much enjoyment you derive from your tub.

Indoor-outdoor enclosures abound and there are many styles available. If privacy is a concern, then you may choose to close all windows in with a darker tinted screen. If your backyard is already secluded with a privacy fence, then you may not require that your hot tub is shielded from view. You can choose gazebo style enclosures in a number of different wood finishes. These look beautiful and are functional as well. Cedar is a common wood used to create enclosures and Cedar is a natural mild insect repellant. It is used in many outdoor furnishings, for hanging plant containers, and makes a great outdoor tub enclosure.

So now for the finishing touches. You have your sauna, you have your enclosure. Have you added a bit of your personality to it? There are plenty of ideas for your little bit of backyard paradise, including decorative plants, flowers or pictures. You could decide to go with a theme such as a tropical motif or even a nautical one, so every time you are in your time, its like you’re at a tropical resort.

Just remember though, if you decide to use plants or flower, ensure you take the proper steps to ensure that bugs don’t get to your plants. One of the reasons you built the enclosure was for protection of your hot tub from bugs.

Used Hot Tubs

March 11th, 2009

As a way of relaxing, more and more people are buying a hot tub for their home. Not only are hot tubs relaxing but they also offer tremendous benefit for people of all ages. Today, the number of sales for hot tubs has skyrocketed. Made from redwood, cedar, and teak, hot tubs are attractive and designed to accommodate two to twelve people. In addition, you can choose from a stand-alone unit or one that can be moved from home to home. The following are five of the top reasons why you might consider buying a hot tub!

Relaxation
The number one reason people choose to install a portable hot tub is for the benefit of relaxation. In today’s society, people rush around more and faster than any other time in history. There are deadlines to meet at work, children to pick up from soccer, dinners to cook, bills to pay, and the list keeps on going. With this, people struggle with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, headaches, fatigue, and tremendous stress.

By sitting for just a few minutes in a hot tub, all the cares of the world seem to drift away. In addition to the relaxation caused by the feel and the sound of the bubbling water, health professionals have determined that the warm water helps to raise the body’s temperature, which then causes blood vessels to dilate. With this, a person’s circulation is greatly improved. The result is a euphoric sensation and a relaxed, stress-free mind and body.

Health
large hot tubsHot tubs have long been associated with helping people that have health problems. It has been proven that water and water exercise is both safe and effective in getting people into shape and helping them maintain fitness. The heat of hot tub water is very soothing to the body and the buoyancy of the water creates the perfect environment for providing relief to people with chronic pain.

For this reason, you often see individuals with Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, Arthritis, and other painful conditions using a hot tub to find some level of relief. Additionally, medical professionals often recommend people that with sore joints, muscle strains, or various types of orthopedic injuries use a hot tub for speeding up the healing process. In fact, some insurance companies even cover the cost of a hot tub for certain medical conditions.

Entertainment
Having a weekend gathering with family or friends is more enjoyable when there is a hot tub in the mix. After barbecuing outdoors, people can take turns enjoying the water while sipping on a glass of wine. Therefore, a hot tub is an excellent addition to any party.

Romance
Today, you can visit any number of ski resorts with outdoor hot tubs. Couples will often slip out of their room late at night where they can sit back and watch the moon as it reflects off the white snow covered mountains. Even having a hot tub in your own backyard offers an opportunity for a little quiet romance with the love of your life.

Therapy
Hot tubs on the market today have come a long way. The innovative designs are an excellent source of therapy. As an example, hot tubs are now designed with hydrotherapy options, which include not just the warm soothing water, but also massage! Then, some on the market also offer aromatherapy. For this, fragrances can be added to enhance the effects of the water. Finally, jet therapy is a very popular addition to hot tubs. With this, powerful jets of water are designed and positioned to deliver a variety of vigorous streams of water to the neck all the way to your feet.

With any tub, just remember there are some things to consider regarding safety. First, children should never be around a tub filled with water when unsupervised. Additionally, most hot tub manufacturers recommend you not stay in the water longer than 20 minutes. Finally, be very careful when consuming alcohol and using a hot tub.

Discount Hot Tubs

February 26th, 2009

The internet is now a perfect place to find companies that are able to offer you competitive price due to their overheads being a lot less as many of them do not have showrooms.  Online companies are much cheaper for discount hot tubs compared to a showroom.

But be careful with internet hot tub retailer as they might not be genuine as they might be selling poor quality hot tub or not be around in the future to support you with warranty problems. The best way to find a genuine and reliable hot tub dealer is to see if they are part of BISHTA (British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association), this is a hot tub association that makes sure all hot tub dealers are keeping to the correct laws and make sure they are providing customers with safe information as well as good service to their customers.

When items are cheaper to similar product it does not always mean than they are poor quality, it could mean that the manufactures are not taking as much profit as other manufactures.

fast heat jacuzziWith regards to hot tub there are many companies out there trying to get you to purchase their tubs with prices ranging for 1000 up to 15,000 and the price you pay does affect the quality of the product slightly, as the more expensive ones will be a lot larger tub as well as having additional accessories like, TV, and sound systems built in.  Many people would love a sound system in the hot tub as well TV but many can not afforded these luxuries and therefore looking for a cheaper hot tub. Cheap hot tub do not need to be poor quality they will just not have all the luxury extra item with them.

A big expensive of a hot tub is the time and cost of manufacturing the actual hot tub shell, many of these are make from acrylic and fibre glass, but there are now a new and much cheaper way of manufacturing a hot tub shell by using rotational moulding, this is a much quicker process and therefore being down the cost of hot tubs. Even thought these hot tub are cheap they still using the same quality parts as the expensive manufactures put in there hot tubs.

When comparing hot tubs it is recommended to ask the hot tub dealer what the name of the parts manufacture name as there are only a few manufacture of good quality hot tubs parts. If they are able to tell you what parts are in the hot tub they should be good quality and a reliable hot tub parts manufacture. If there is dealer does not know the name of what parts are used in their hot tub or it’s a name you have not heard of it best to keep clear of their particular tubs.

So if you see a hot tub with the same parts in the tub but with a difference price tag it just means that the dealer is making more money usually.

Some hot tub can seem like they are very cheap to purchase but its always recommend to find out what the running costs are as its better to get a well insulated hot tub with more efficient parts which will save you money in the long run. It is also worth inquiring on what type of insulation they have as some cheap hot tub will have non, and therefore cost more to run but some other cheap hot tubs are well insulated and will be cheaper to run.

A perfect opportunity to pick up a hot tub bargain is during the sales. Many hot tub dealers will have a Hot tub sale at the end of the year and the beginning of the year; this is to clear old models before the new stock arrives. Winter is the perfect time to purchase a hot tub as most people prefer using the hot tub when the weather is cold outside and the hot tub is all warm and bubbling so why not pick up a hot tub is the winter sale and then hope for snow so you can relax in the hot tub with snow all around you.

Soft Portable Hot Tubs

February 16th, 2009

If there’s one thing that may dissuade someone from investing in a hot tub, it’s usually the fact that it is a permanent fixture, whether you have an indoor or outdoor version. With the amount of room that these fixtures can take up, it’s a valid argument and reason not to buy one. However, with the advent of portable hot tubs, this need no longer be a concern. Although still a solid structure, these pieces of equipment are far lighter and more practical than a fixed unit.

A portable hot tub is extremely easy to install and fill. All that is required is a flat surface to rest the tub on, an electrical socket that will support a standard power outlet, and either garden hose or similar to fill the tub up with water. If you’re resting the tub on solid ground, the weight factor will be condensed somewhat - however, if you’re putting it on any kind of decking or other less solid support, make sure it can take a filled hot tub’s weight, which can be well over two tonne.

Once you have decided where the tub is going to sit, the next thing you need to do is to fill it. A simple garden hose will suffice here, as the actual warmth of the water is taken care of elsewhere. Once the tub is filled, you can leave it in the same as you would a more permanent variation. Until you need to empty to clean it properly, this is the only time you need to fill a portable hot tub, as it is cleaned and maintained the same way a standard model is. And a further beauty of this simplicity is that there is no specialist plumbing required.

Keeping the water warm is another relatively straightforward task, and as an added benefit, a soft portable hot tub is far cheaper to run than a traditional model. This is because it uses a technology where a PVC pipe (powered by a simple everyday electrical plug) is split into sections that, when switched on, causes the separate water drops, or molecules, to bounce against each other. When this happens, it causes a certain amount of friction. And like anything where friction is concerned, like rubbing two sticks together for example, it creates heat, and the heat warms your water.

Maintaining the cleanliness of a portable spa is just as simple as how you would treat a normal indoor or outdoor model. Checking the pH levels and the total alkaline levels are exactly the same method, and since it doesn’t need specialized electrical equipment to heat it, there is less chance of any corrosion of pipes taking place. Therefore it only needs to be emptied and refilled once every quarter or so. With the therapeutic benefits a hot tub can offer, a portable version opens up this wonderful piece of equipment to a wider audience.
